Technology

Investricity is deliberately technology neutral. We deploy investment ready bankable technologies that have strong operating track records and can benefit from non recourse project finance from established banks.

Photovoltaic (PV) are arrays of cells containing a solar photovoltaic material that converts solar radiation into direct current electricity. Materials presently used for photovoltaics include monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, cadmium telluride and some other single and multijunction materials.

Total PV production capacity has been doubling every two years since 2000 and is expected to reach 18 GW per annum on a global basis by 2012.

The efficiency of PV effect conversion ranges from and low of 6-8% for Thin Film Technologies, to some 40% (exported electrical energy / incident light energy) for the most efficient multi junction technologies.

Most deployed PV systems are either rooftop installations or directly ground mounted. The maximum size is increasing rapidly and our partners Suntech have recently deployed a 50MW unit in Spain.

Investricity is focused on larger ground mounted powerplants of between 3 and 20 MW, or rooftop units of between 200KW to 5 MW.

Solar PV is a long lived technology and all installations are guaranteed with a panel producing capacity of over 90% for 20 years plus from our technology partners in Solon and Suntech.

Additionally Investricity is also evaluating a number of Solar Thermal, Energy Storage, and Biofuel Conversion technologies – with a focus on qualifying investment ready projects, systems and technologies with clear operating track records.
